Halvyn H-3200 — Harmonizer

Halvyn H-3200 · intelligent harmonizer · restored from unit no. 3200/C022 · Halvyn, United Kingdom, 1996

The restorer's note

The harmonizer that knew the key — building diatonic chords from a single line, the sound of a certain 90s lead. Where the P-3000 shifts blindly, this one listens. Restored with its harmony intelligence and its period grain both intact.

Listening

Listening

Demonstration recordings, prepared at the bench.

  1. The choir, plainly

A line in A Minor, alone, then joined from five seconds by Voice 1 at +3rd and Voice 2 at +5th — the harmony cut to the key, at 50 % Mix.

    0:00 / 0:30

  2. Three voices, built

The harmony assembled one Voice at a time: +3rd at five seconds, +5th at eleven, -Oct at seventeen. Voice 1 then lifts to +Oct and the chord opens.

    0:00 / 0:30

  3. The spread, pushed

Detune at 50 cents and Delay at 50 milliseconds smear the two voices around the line. Formant sits at −12 semitones, jumps to +12 at sixteen seconds, and returns to 0.
