Orrery — Copenhagen
For the press.
Orrery is a work of fiction — a restoration house invented whole, together with the four hardware companies whose archives it claims to keep. The instruments are real: forty-four audio plug-ins in the VST3 and AU formats, genuinely built, genuinely sold, genuinely licensed. Only the story around them is a story.
The story
One person invented four defunct audio-hardware companies — Salo of Finland, Tekura of America, Yumeo of Japan, Halvyn of Britain — wrote them a bible, gave every machine a serial and a history, and then built the plug-ins those machines would have become. The catalogue is organized as a restoration house's ledger: forty-four instruments, four archives, each entry carrying its provenance line and restorer's note.
